2012 – Looking Back
02012 was a strange year for gaming. We had a small amount of new hardware and a low turnout of AAA titles. The usual hyped up console exclusives were few and far between. Looking to online and more open platforms like iOS/Android and the PC though, we can see that things have been somewhat more exciting. 2012 saw a lot of behind the scenes developments; you can see the pieces all coming into place for what should be a spectacular 2013. Review: Walking Dead Episode 1 : A Game Of Tough Choices
1Telltale games turn their attention to zombies in an episodic adventure series based on Robert Kirkman’s Walking Dead comics. Do zombies and modernized point-and-click mechanics work well together?
To those of you who haven’t read the Walking Dead, or seen the (excellent) AMC TV adaptation – It tells the stories of the scattered human population after a zombie apocalypse. Whether you’re up for some cute monster mayhem or something psychologically deep, there’s something here for all tastes. (more…)

0Format: Xbox 360 Players: 1 Genre: Action/Horror
What happens when you mix Resident Evil 4-like gunplay, Twin Peaks’ setting, GTA-like driving sections, and a mishmash of Stephen King stories? Alan Wake was critically lauded on release for its pacing and storytelling. By Remedy, the studio responsible for Max Payne it suffered from a notoriously drawn out development cycle. Now it has a reduced price on Xbox Live for halloween – is it worth a purchase to late-comers or new 360 owners?
Story: Alan is a famous yet frustrated writer. Encouraged to come on holiday by his wife, Alice, he expects More >
Movies For Gamers – Part 2
0This is part two of an article. Click here for part one!
This is a lot like a reading list for gamers. I’m not saying anything “ripped off” anything else here, I’m just making a nice list of movies that are relevant or related to games in some way. Some were definitely sources of inspiration, others just have some parallels.
Vampire Hunter D / Bloodlust - Castlevania Series
In VHD we have a long haired, mysterious, cloaked vampire hunter who also happens to be the son of Dracula. Sounds a lot like Alucard. Looks a lot like Alucard. Acts a lot like Alucard. We have a lot of similar monster More >
